ATL Housewife: Kandi’s Ex-Fiance Murdered

Kandi & AJKandi Burruss’ (The Real Housewives of Atlanta) ex-fiance,  Ashley “A.J.” Jewell,  was murdered last night in an ATL strip club, The Body Tap Club, located at the 1200 block of Marietta Street in Downtown Atlanta.

According to news reports, A.J. got in an alteration in the parking lot of the club, where he received a fatal blow to the head. AJ was part owner of the club.

An employee of the club, Frederick Richardson, has been charged with voluntary manslaughter–not murder–and is being held at Grady Detention Center in connection with the crime.

Kandi is having a hard time dealing with the news, but stated this in a Twitter post:

“I could never in a million years imagine this happening. Please pray for A.J.’s children … that’s who I’m the most concerned for. I’m about to give my swollen eyes some rest now. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their prayers,” said Burruss.

In a previous post, I agreed with Kandi’s mom that A.J. wasn’t good for Kandi.  Honestly, I believe that God is the only one who knows what’s best for all of us–and that includes Kandi.

I will say this, though. There was definitely something that Kandi’s mama felt in her spirit that made her not feel that A.J. was a good fit for her daughter. Thank God for a mother’s intuition–and thank God that Kandi trusted her mother’s–and her own–instincts enough to put the relationship on pause.  If she hadn’t, would we have lost really good-hearted person?

My condolences go out to Kandi, A.J.’s children (two of whom Kandi is raising) and everyone and anyone close the family.
